Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic, and cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. While the sauce simmers, cook the lasagna noodles in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and lay them flat on a towel to prevent sticking.
  5. In a medium bowl, beat the egg and mix in the ricotta cheese until well combined.
  6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 3 noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Top with a third of the mozzarella cheese and a third of the remaining meat sauce. Repeat layers (noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, meat sauce). Top with the last 3 noodles, remaining meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
